Volt runs in the 2023 elections

Volt Luxembourg has today filed its candidature for the 2023 Chamber elections in both the South and the East. In the South we are running with a full list and 23 candidates, in the East we are three (out of seven seats).

Our list does not have frontrunners, so called “Spëtzenkandidat*innen”. While we understand the political reality of Luxembourg, we are convinced that politics should be based on ideas and policy programmes not popular faces.

As a party that champions inclusivity and social justice, we recognize the need to address the gender imbalance in our list. While we may not have achieved the balance and diversity we aspire to, we want to be transparent about this and assure that it is at  the forefront of our agenda.

We have elected to put all of our female candidates first in our list order.

While this could be seen as a tokenization of women we believe that symbolic acts are needed to challenge the status quo. We understand the critical importance of amplifying the voices of women and marginalised groups in shaping our nation's future, and will continue to grow our member base with those criteria in mind.
